reasons

the
changes.
This
is an
especially
timely
meeting
topic
for
Federal
records
management
staff
and
contractors
to the
Federal
government.
Regulations
affecting
Federal
agencies
and
their
records
management
programs
are
found
in
Subchapter
B of
36
Code
of
Federal
Regulations
Chapter
XII.
The
National
Archives
and
Records
Administration
issued
revisions
to
these
regulations
on
October
2,
2009
The
new
regulations
provide
more
information
on
managing
electronic
records
and
are
also
re-formatted
into a
question-and-answer
format.
For

What
Federal
records
must
be
scheduled?
All
Federal
records,
including
those
created
or
maintained
for
the
Government
by a
contractor,
must
be
covered
by a
NARA-approved
agency
disposition
authority,
SF
115,
Request
for
Records
Disposition
Authority,
or the
NARA
General
Records
Schedules.
Anyone
who
deals
with
Federal
records
should
attend
this
informative
session.
About
our
speaker
Laura
McCarthy
Policy
and
Planning
Staff
National
Archives
and
Records
Administration
(NARA)
Laura
began
her
career
with
the
Federal
Government
21
years
ago—as
a
trainee
in
archives
management
at
NARA
at
Archives
I.
Laura
transferred
to the
regional
archives
and
worked
in two
NARA
regional
facilities—the
National
Archives
in
Laguna
Niguel
and
the
National
Archives
in
Seattle.
While
in the
archives
side
of the
house,
Laura
taught
workshops
on
dealing
with
primary
documents
and
disaster
workshop.
In
Seattle,
Laura
transitioned
to the
NARA-Seattle
records
management
unit
and
assisted
agencies
in
their
records
management
responsibilities
and
instructed
records
management
workshops.
Laura
has
also
worked
for
the
Federal
Records
Center
Program
and
was
the
Transfer
and
Disposition
lead
in
Lee’s
Summit,
Missouri.
Her
current
“home”
is
with
the
Policy
and
Planning
Staff
of
NARA
where
she
worked
with
Nancy
Allard
and
other
NARA
staff
on the
revised
records
management
regulations.
