September 2008 by Denise Pickett Region Manager
Welcome to the ARMA Mid-Atlantic Region Website and welcome to the new ARMA year! Whether you are a new or a seasoned member, please note that there is something new for everyone this year. ARMA International has worked hard to develop training for volunteer leaders. This training is available at no cost to chapter board members and to the region team. This is intended to reward ARMA members for stepping up to the challenge of volunteering. This training is referred to as the Online Leadership Academy and can be found at Leadership Academy. The course contains 11 modules and each module takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. A “Certificate of Completion” will be awarded to those completing the entire course and demonstrating comprehension of all 11 modules. A score of 80% is required to pass the short quiz in each module, and more than one opportunity is given to achieve 80% or better. CRMs will receive 6.5 CRM maintenance credits upon successful complete of the full 11 modules. I hope you recognized the huge leap our region made this year with the webpage and the ability to do electronic voting. I asked the webmaster if it was possible to collect our Leadership Conference votes electronically and he certainly made it happen. I thank David for this leap into the 21st Century. By now, everyone should have received the news that the voting results have been compiled and the Triangle Chapter is the host chapter for the 2009 Leadership Conference. Congratulations to Triangle! Please note that the 2010 bid is open so if your chapter is interested, you should begin your preplanning. Writing in September naturally leads to the topic of the annual conference. I am sure you all know that the conference is being held in Las Vegas this year October 20-23, 2008. The conference is typically well attended when held in Las Vegas. I hope to see a great many of you there! Before I close, I would like to remind everyone about who makes up our Region Team. We have a new Region Coordinator this year – Pete Casey. Pete replaces George Darnell as the Northern Area Region Coordinator. Welcome to Pete! Your Region
Team is:
I thank everyone who is a volunteer and encourage all members to get involved and become a volunteer at any of the levels: chapter, region, international. You will find that the friendships you make are long lasting and very rewarding. If you have any questions about ARMA International, do not hesitate to reach out to me or any of the Region Team.
