APRIL 2008

Manager, ARMA Mid-Atlantic Region

Welcome to the ARMA Mid-Atlantic Region!

First of all, I want to remind everyone that it is time to complete your registration for the Region Leadership Conference to be held June 15-17, 2008 in Charleston, SC.    Charleston offers the best Southern Charm available in South Carolina.  You will find out how friendly and “laid back” everyone is in Charleston.

The deadline for both the conference registration and the hotel registration is May 15, 2008.  You are responsible for making your own hotel reservations so don’t assume that turning in a completed registration automatically gets you a room reservation.

Please note that the designated chapter representative does not pay the registration fee of $120.  Only the registrants beyond this designee are required to pay the $120 fee.

Plan on the being educated about Historic Charleston.  The Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina includes a lot of sightseeing right there at the hotel.   For instance, if you are a fisherman, you will enjoy the antique rod and reel collection that dates back to the 1920’s.  Many of the rods and reels on display were used by many famous authors such as Zane Gray, Kip Farrington and Ernest Hemingway.  This collection is one of the largest and most valuable of its kind in the United States.  Also nearby is a bird sanctuary and Castle Pickney.

The agenda is packed with information from both ARMA HQ and your region leadership tem.  The half-day leadership training on Monday will earn CRM credits and the information on this will be provided later.  ARMA International covers the cost of the speaker for this training so please take advantage of this.

Monday night’s activity will be a Charleston Harbor Dinner Cruise.  The event will include dinner, music, dancing, and a scenic harbor tour.

Y’all come to South Carolina for some fun, great networking and, of course, some education!

Before I sign off, I would like to take this time to remind you of the Region leadership team for 2007-2008 and their assigned chapters.

  • Michelle VanAllen is the Coordinator for the Southern Area which includes the CSRA (Aiken, SC); Greenville, SC;  Charleston, SC;  and Columbia, SC chapters.
  • Chris Koch is the Coordinator for the Capitol Area, which includes Greater Washington, DC; Northern VA/Fairfax; and Greater Baltimore, MD chapters.
  • George Darnell , CRM, is the Coordinator for the Northern Area which includes chapters in Gaitherburg, MD; Pittsburgh, PA; Liberty Bell (Philadelphia, PA), and Diamond State (Wilmington, DE).
  • Denise Pickett, CRM, Region Manager/Coordinator for the Central Area, which includes Richmond, VA; Piedmont (Charlotte,NC;); Triangle (Raleigh, NC); and Tidewater (Williamsburg / Newport News, VA area).  Tammy Wheeler is the Region Treasurer and David Noack is the Region webmaster.
  • Pete Casey, CRM, has been selected as the new Coordinator for the Northern Area for 2008-09.  Welcome to our team Pete!

Start making your plans for the annual conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The dates are October 20-23, 2008.  This year’s conference starts a day later than normal so plan accordingly.  The chapter and region leadership activities and meetings are scheduled for October 18-19, 2008.  The information has already been sent out by ARMA International.

On behalf of the region team, thanks for volunteering and being a part of the ARMA Family!

Warm regards,

Denise
