CRM – Steps to Obtaining Records Management Certification

Have you thought about becoming a Certified Records Manager (CRM)? Is it worth the effort? Where do you start?

The quest for records management certification is a small project. There are many steps to take after you have made the decision to gain certification. This session will guide you through the certification process by relaying personal experience with:

·        Documenting education and work experience for the application

·        Preparing for the examination

·        Taking the examination

·        Passing the examination

·        Maintaining certification

Speaker Bio:

Pete Caseyis the Records Manager for Nuveen Investments Operations in Radnor, PA. Pete was part of the DuPont Litigation Support Team working on document reviews and document productions in the early 90’s. He later worked for Quorum Litigation as a Legal Records Analyst at DuPont. Pete has served on the Liberty Bell Chapter Board since the fall of 2001. He previously served as President and currently serves as Secretary. He is also currently a Region Coordinator for the ARMA Mid-Atlantic Region. Pete received a B.S. degree in History from the University of Delaware.

Gary Link, CRM, is the Corporate Records Manager for Astorino, an architectural/engineering firm in Pittsburgh. Prior to working at Astorino, he was the County Records Manager for Allegheny County. Gary has worked in records management for over eighteen years, and has been a Certified Records Manger for four years. Gary is a Past President of ARMA Pittsburgh Chapter, and has spoken on records management topics for different organizations throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania and West Virginia."

The cost will be free of charge for chapter members and $20 for guests.

Please contact Chris Nettrour to make your reservations and let her know which meal you prefer.  If you know of anyone who is not a chapter member who would like to attend, such as your supervisor or someone you work with, please invite them.  All reservations need to be made by Friday, May 15th so that Chris can let the Engineers' Society know how many people will be attending.
