The Gaithersburg Chapter of ARMA International provides monthly meetings and
other events that expand the knowledge base of all Records and Information
Management Professionals. The planned schedule of events is listed below.
Program: "Getting to know the HHMI's Enterprise Electronic Management System (CARMA):" or "What do we do with these 680 records categories on our
comprehensive schedule and their 22 different retention periods?" Al Minnick will discuss the technology selection process, the coordination of a major
software and services contract with the Institute's Advanced Technology Group and some of the lessons learned during the early stages of the testing process.
CRM Maintenance Credits - One Hour
Speaker: Al Minnick has been working at HHMI since 2002. Formerly Al worked as a contractor for the United States Patent and Trademark Office
(USPTO). The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) also succeeded in dislodging Al from Juneau, Alaska during the middle to late 1990s.
The first legal hold database that Al ever worked on was related to the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Case and the records referenced bolstering the State's
case. Consequently, he designed and maintained numerous other archival and records management databases. Currently he is overseeing the implementation
of the Institute's Enterprise Electronic Records Management System (CARMA).
Menu: Dinner will be your choice of mesquite grilled chicken breast, steak al carbon, salmon, or vegetables fajitas. Served with rice, bean,
guacamole, and pico de gallo. Your selection of one soft drink (soda, coffee, tea or juice) and dessert will be included. Cash bar is available.
